Ranchi police have apprehended two suspected members of the proscribed extremist organization People Liberation Front of India (PLFI) during an operation carried out in Tupudana area of the city on Thursday, said police. Police informed that the arrested extremists were Arun Lohra and Suraj Lohra adding that PLFI pamphlets were seized from them.
Deputy superintendent of police Ajay Aryan said that Bajrang Mahto, resident of Nagri police station area, had lodged a case saying that PLFI has demanded extortion money of Rs 50 lakhs from him through a whatsapp call. He added, “During investigation police received technical inputs that the extremists would come to Barahmile in Tupudana to collect the levy. An ambush was laid and they were caught as they arrived at the place on a bike.” He said that raids were underway to arrest the remaining members of the gang. He added that investigation would also be conducted to ascertain whether the arrested persons were genuinely members of PLFI or not.
