2. What you can raise with us
- Editorial content — factual inaccuracy, unfairness, or a request for correction or right of reply.
- Subscriptions and payments — billing, renewals, cancellation or refund matters.
- Personal data — access, correction, erasure or withdrawal of consent under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- Copyright — unauthorised use of our material, or a claim that we have used yours.
- Accessibility — difficulty using our website, applications or E-Paper.
- Conduct — the behaviour of our staff, agents or delivery personnel.
3. How to complain
Write to the Grievance Officer at vaibhav.srivastava@theguardianchronicle.com, or by post to the address above. To help us resolve matters quickly, please include:
- Your name and a contact number or email address.
- What the complaint concerns — for content, the headline and date of publication; for payments, the transaction reference.
- What you would like us to do.
- Any supporting material, such as a screenshot or receipt.
Complaints may be submitted in English or Hindi.
4. What happens next
- We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours of receipt.
- We dispose of the complaint within 15 days of receipt.
- Where a complaint concerns personal data, we respond within the timelines set by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- We will tell you the outcome and the reasons for our decision.
Where a correction to published content is warranted, it is made promptly and recorded on our Corrections page.
5. If you are not satisfied
As a publisher of news and current affairs content, we operate within the three-tier grievance mechanism set out in the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021:
- Level I — the publisher. Your complaint is first considered by our Grievance Officer, as set out above.
- Level II — self-regulating body. If you are not satisfied with our decision, the complaint may be escalated to the self-regulating body of publishers to which we belong.
- Level III — oversight mechanism. Thereafter, the oversight mechanism of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
For personal data matters, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India after exhausting our internal process.
6. Records
We maintain a record of every grievance received, the action taken and the date of disposal, as required by law.
