Two Arrested in Bareilly for Forging Government Documents; Country-Made Pistols Recovered

Bareilly: Two people were arrested here on Wednesday for allegedly preparing fake orders and documents in the names of government department officials, police said.

Two fake Aadhaar cards, photocopies of two fake orders, two illegal country-made pistols and two live cartridges were recovered from their possession, they said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (South) Anshika Verma said the arrests were made by Bhamaura police during checking of suspicious persons and vehicles on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted and arrested Rajveer Rathore, a resident of Chakmahmood, and Niket Maharaj, a resident of Dhoom locality, she said.

During interrogation, Rathore told police that he worked with his associates Pappu Maurya, Shivlal Maurya and Shashank Maurya to get fake orders and documents prepared in the names of government officials and sell them.

He told police that their gang members remained in contact with people involved in preparing government documents and got forged papers made through them, police said.

A case has been registered against the two accused under relevant sections of BNS at Bhamaura police station, officials said.

According to police, several cases are already registered against Rathore at various police stations in Bareilly and neighbouring Sambhal district.

Police is also verifying details of his old cases and a detailed probe is on in the matter.
