Citizens of the capital were inconvenienced on Tuesday after the electricity department undertook cabling, maintenance and reconductoring in several areas. Residents, shopkeepers and other consumers had their household and commercial activities hindered as a result.

Affected areas included regions under the Lalpur electricity division’s H B Road feeder of the Kokar Urban power sub-station, where residents in Uddhav Babu Lane and adjoining areas were affected, with the power supply suspended from 10 am to 3 pm. The shutdown was carried out to facilitate LT line cabling work by NCC Company.

Similar situations were faced by residents and establishments in Tara Babu Lane and adjoining areas under the Circular Road 11-KV feeder of the Chadri power sub-station. Supply remained affected from 10 am to noon due to electrical work.

More affected regions include areas under the Kokar division, the Krishna Puri feeder in Chutia, where power was suspended from 11 am to 12.30 pm around Chhath Talab near TRW, Krishna Puri Road No 3 near the drain that faced power disruption from 10 am to 4.30 pm. Similarly, residents of Krishna Puri, Chhath Talab and Road No. 1 in Chutia experienced another interruption from 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm as electrical work was carried out in the area.

In Sukhdeonagar, electricity supply in Kali Mandir Gali, connected to the 11-KV Ratu Road feeder, remained suspended from 11 am to 4 pm for LT reconductoring work under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

“Five hours without electricity during the daytime made it difficult to manage routine household work. With the weather still warm, children and elderly family members were particularly uncomfortable. We understand that maintenance is necessary, but the work should be completed within the scheduled time,” said Amrita Rani, a resident of Uddhav Babu Lane.
