The Jharkhand State Bar Council will elect its office-bearers and representative to the Bar Council of India (BCI) on November 4, with the contest for both the president’s post and BCI membership attracting attention.
The president’s post will see a direct contest between Abhay Kumar Chaturvedi and Nilesh Kumar. Both candidates are reaching out to council members to garner support ahead of the election. The BCI member’s post is also drawing interest, particularly over the candidature of Sanjay Kumar Vidrohi.
His election could provide Ranchi Civil Court representation in the national legal body, allowing issues concerning infrastructure, security and working facilities for advocates to be raised at the national level. Manoj Kumar (No. 2) and Prashant Kumar Singh are the other candidates contesting for the post.
According to Chief Returning Officer Justice Ambuj Nath, polling will begin at 11.15 am on November 4. A total of 26 voters, comprising 25 Bar Council members and the Advocate General of Jharkhand, will exercise their franchise.
Counting will begin after polling concludes, and the results will be declared on the same day. Arrangements have been completed to ensure that the election is conducted in a fair and orderly manner.
