HC summons JSSC IT experts to verify missing response sheets, answer keys

Court to examine candidates’ portal access on October 13; 43 assistant acharya posts kept aside in separate recruitment case

The Jharkhand high court has directed computer and IT experts of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) to remain present in court on October 13 in connection with a petition concerning the non-availability of response sheets and answer keys for candidates who appeared in the secondary acharya recruitment examination.

The bench of Justice Deepak Roshan issued the direction, stating that the court would log in to the recruitment portal in the presence of technical experts to ascertain the actual status of the issue.

The matter relates to a petition filed by Vikas Pandey and others. During the hearing, the petitioners informed the court that after appearing in the secondary acharya examination, they attempted to download their response sheets and answer keys from the official JSSC website using their registered email IDs and passwords.

However, the portal displayed the message “user does not exist,” preventing them from accessing or downloading the relevant documents.

JSSC has already filed an affidavit in the matter. In its response, the commission suggested that the error message might have appeared because candidates had entered their email IDs or passwords incorrectly.

Seeking verification of the actual technical problem, the petitioners urged the court to examine the issue in the presence of JSSC’s technical experts. The court subsequently directed the commission’s computer and IT specialists to attend the next hearing.

The court has also instructed the petitioners to appear with their email IDs and passwords. During the next hearing, the court will attempt to log in to the concerned candidates’ accounts in the presence of JSSC experts to determine whether their response sheets and answer keys are available and whether they can be downloaded.

Separate recruitment case: HC directs JSSC to keep 43 assistant acharya posts reserved

In a separate matter concerning the appointment of assistant acharyas under JSSC Advertisement No. 13/2023, the Jharkhand high court has granted interim relief to petitioners Aditya Kumar and others, directing that 43 posts be kept reserved in their interest.

The court issued the direction after hearing the petition, with the matter scheduled for final hearing on October 30.

Advocate Shubham Mishra, appearing for the petitioners, submitted that all the petitioners had secured higher marks than the candidates finally selected in their respective categories. Despite their higher scores, they were allegedly not provided due consideration in the appointment process.

Mishra further informed the court that vacancies existed in both the para-teacher and non-para-teacher categories. He argued that the claims of candidates who had secured higher marks had not been adequately considered despite the availability of vacant posts.

During an earlier hearing, the high court had granted JSSC time to file its response. However, the commission failed to submit its reply within the stipulated period.

The court has now directed that the matter be listed for final hearing on October 30.
