The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for inclement weather in several districts on Sunday even as gusty winds accompanied with rain and thunder took place across the state on Saturday. The state capital witnessed a stormy morning for the second consecutive day on Saturday as thunder, and lightning along with 44 mm of rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours.
Inclement weather prevailed in other parts of the state also as Darisari in East Singhbhum registered a wind speed between 70 to 80 kilometres per hour while Torpa in Khunti district recorded 42 kilometres per hour. The highest wind speed of Ranchi was 18 kilometres per hour. In the past 24 hours Ranchi registered highest rainfall in the state at 42.6 mm followed by Bokaro 24.5 mm, Deoghar 24 mm and Bokaro Thermal 22.2 mm. With the mercury dropping by several notches across the state Dalton Ganj registered the highest daytime temperature at 34.5 degrees centigrade.
The town was simmering at 44 plus degrees centigrade a few days ago. Ranchi was the coolest place among the towns with a maximum temperature of 27.8 degrees centigrade. The IMD has warned that Giridih, Bokaro Lohardaga, Gumla, Dhanbad, Koderma, Hazaribag, Ramgarh, Khunti and Simedaga would witness strongwinds reaching speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour.
