High Court advocates’ association polls on August 21

The election process for the Jharkhand High Court Advocates’ Association has formally begun, with the Jharkhand State Bar Council releasing the detailed schedule for the election of office-bearers and members of the Executive Committee. Polling will be held on August 21, while counting of votes will commence on August 22 and continue until the declaration of the results.

According to the election notification, advocates wishing to be included in the electoral roll must clear their pending membership dues up to December 2025 by August 5. The voters’ list will be forwarded to the Bar Council on August 6.

The provisional electoral roll will be published on August 10. Objections to the list can be submitted on August 10 and 11 until 4:30 pm. After disposal of all objections, the final voters’ list will be published on August 11 at 5 pm.

Nomination forms will be available from August 12 to August 14 until 3 pm. Candidates can file their nomination papers up to 5 pm on August 14. Scrutiny of nominations will be conducted, and the list of validly nominated candidates will be published on August 17.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations has been fixed at 3:30 pm on August 18. The final list of contesting candidates will be released the same day at 5 pm.

Voting will take place on August 21 from 11 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will begin at 10:30 am on August 22 and continue until the results are declared.

With the election schedule now in place, political activity within the High Court campus has gathered pace. Prospective candidates for various posts have begun reaching out to advocates to garner support and formulate their election strategies ahead of the polls.
