Thane: Police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly misusing the bank accounts and mobile numbers of 10 persons under the pretext of securing jobs at a quick-commerce company in Maharashtra’s Thane district, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused gained the trust of the victims by promising to get them warehouse packing jobs at the company.

They collected the victims’ bank passbooks and their linked SIM cards, but provided no employment, a police official said.

Realising that their bank accounts and mobile numbers were being misused for unauthorised financial transactions, one of the victims, a woman, demanded the immediate return of their documents and SIM cards.

The accused refused to return her documents and also threatened her with dire consequences.

Based on a complaint, the Bhoiwada police on Monday registered a case against the two accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official said.
