Ranchi: The Guardian Chronicle on Wednesday felicitated the winners and participants of its Environment Day Drawing Competition, organised on June 5, 2026, to encourage environmental awareness and creative expression among students. The competition received an overwhelming response, with 359 entries submitted by students from different age groups. Following a careful evaluation by a panel of judges, six entries were selected as winners. The award ceremony was attended by the students along with their parents, who appreciated the initiative aimed at nurturing environmental consciousness among young minds.
Speaking on the occasion, competition judge Dhananjay Kumar, founder, director, Kalakriti School of Arts highlighted the importance of such platforms in shaping responsible future citizens. โEvents like these help students develop a meaningful connection with the environment while providing them an opportunity to express their ideas and concerns through art. Participation across age groups promotes awareness about sustainability and inspires children to become responsible stewards of nature,โ he said.
Dr Ashutosh Kumar, physician, diabetologist and thyroid specialist, who partnered with the initiative, stressed the need for environmental education among the younger generation. โIt is important for students to understand the present condition of the environment and the challenges it faces. Activities such as this, increase awareness about issues like deforestation, urbanisation, pollution and biodiversity loss, while encouraging sustainable practices and environmental responsibility,โ he said. The winners of the competition were Vivaan, Kriti Kumari, Nidhi Kumari, Samiya Akhtar, Deepti Kumari and Samriddho Bishui. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes, celebrating the creativity, awareness and commitment displayed by the young participants towards environmental conservation.
