A middle-aged man died in a road accident that took place on Wednesday night near Sultani village on NH-139 under the Pipra police station area, while two youths riding a KTM bike were injured. The deceased was identified as Sarjun Paswan (52), son of Birja Paswan, a resident of Sultani village. The incident occurred at around 9 p.m.
According to information, Sarjun Paswan’s house is located along NH-139. On Wednesday night, during the rain, he was crossing the road. Meanwhile, a KTM bike coming at high speed from the Medininagar side hit him with great force. The impact was so severe that, along with Sarjun Paswan, both youths riding the bike also fell onto the road and were injured.
With the help of local residents, all three were taken to the Community Health Centre, Hariharganj. There, the doctor on duty, Dr Rajesh Kumar, declared Sarjun Paswan dead after examination. Meanwhile, the bike rider, Mithu Chaudhary (22), son of late Lalan Chaudhary, a resident of Pani Tanki, Dehri-on-Sone (Rohtas, Bihar), was seriously injured. After primary treatment, he was referred to a higher centre for better treatment. His companion riding the bike, Shahid Raza (18), son of Kaleem Ansari, a resident of Dehri-on-Sone, sustained minor injuries.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police from Pipra and Hariharganj reached the spot and started an investigation. Pipra police seized the accident-hit KTM bike. After the accident, mourning prevailed at the deceased’s house, and the family members were inconsolable with grief. Local residents alleged that the youths riding the bike were driving at high speed and under the influence of alcohol. However, the police said that all aspects of the case are being investigated, and further action will be taken based on the investigation report.
