The southwest monsoon made its onset over Jharkhand on Thursday, entering the state through West Bengal. Monsoon winds have already reached the Santhal Pargana region and Giridih, marking the arrival of the rainy season in the state. Meteorological officials confirmed that conditions remain highly favorable for the advancement of the monsoon into the remaining districts over the next 48 hours. The initial downpour has already brought a welcome respite from the grueling heatwave that gripped the region for weeks. Local authorities have issued advisories for farmers to begin preparatory work for the Kharif sowing season, even as Ranchi and surrounding areas brace for widespread, moderate-to-heavy rainfall by the weekend.
