Thousands of volunteers participated in the annual Southern Coastal Cleanup today, breaking previous records for both attendance and the amount of debris collected. Environmental organizations praised the community effort, highlighting the importance of preserving marine ecosystems. Organizers reported that over 10 tons of plastic waste were removed from the beaches, which will be sent to local recycling facilities.
