Patna: Former Rajya Sabha MP Ravindra Kishore Sinha died on Friday after a brief illness at his residence in Noida, family sources said.

From Journalism to Building India’s Largest Private Security Firm

He is survived by his wife, son Rituraj, who is a former national secretary of the party, and a daughter. Born in Bihar and educated in Patna, Sinha began his career as a journalist with a Hindi newspaper and started SIS Enterprises, the country’s largest private security firm, in the late 1970s, roping in a large number of ex-servicemen who had retired after the Bangladesh war.

The business, which is now said to be worth thousands of crores, gained instant success, especially in the “coal belt” of what was then south Bihar and now comprises Jharkhand.

Known to be ideologically inclined towards the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since his days as a student, Sinha is counted among the founding members of the BJP. He got elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2014 and also became a member of the party’s national executive committee.

Condoling his death, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary wrote on X, “The news of the death of Shri R K Sinha ji, a senior leader of the Jan Sangh and the BJP, is heart-breaking.” According to Sinha’s family members, his mortal remains are being brought here for the last rites.
