Ranchi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has seized a truck carrying around 32 tonnes of coal in the Magadh coalfield area under Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), intensifying its crackdown on coal theft and pilferage in Jharkhand.

Mayank Kashyap, representative of the CCL PR Department, said that CISF issued a statement on Thursday, highlighting that the seizure was made near Chamatu More in the Magadh area on Wednesday night during an operation conducted by a team deployed in the Magadh-Amrapali coalfields.

Since its deployment in the region around a month ago, the force has seized several vehicles and recovered approximately 800 tonnes of coal through a series of operations aimed at curbing illegal coal transportation and pilferage. The latest seizure is part of sustained anti-coal theft drives involving intelligence-based raids, surveillance and ambush operations across the coalfields.

The deployment of CISF personnel is intended to strengthen security in mining areas, prevent the illegal diversion of coal and support the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Zero Coal Leakage Policy. In recent weeks, the force has reported several major seizures in different coal-producing areas of the state. Earlier this month, CISF personnel foiled an alleged coal theft attempt in Latehar district by seizing five tipper trucks carrying around 250 tonnes of coal.
