Ranchi: The US International Development Finance Corp (DFC) has initiated discussions with the Jharkhand government to explore investment opportunities in the state’s critical minerals and mineral-based industries, signalling growing international interest in India’s resource-rich eastern state.

A high-level DFC delegation, led by Jatin Batra, Regional Managing Director (South Asia), and Karishma Rohra, Business Development Specialist, met senior state officials in Ranchi on Tuesday to assess prospects in critical minerals, mineral exploration, mineral processing, value addition, and downstream mineral-based industries.

The delegation held talks with Arava Rajkamal, Secretary of the Departments of Mines and Geology, and Industries, along with Rahul Kumar Sinha, Director of Mines and Geology, and Vishal Sagar, Director of Industries.

During the meeting, the state government showcased Jharkhand’s vast mineral reserves and outlined its industrial and investment promotion policy, investor facilitation measures, and reforms undertaken under the ease of doing business framework.

Officials also highlighted initiatives aimed at promoting value addition within the state, strengthening downstream industries, and encouraging investments in mineral-based manufacturing and allied infrastructure.

Discussions centred on scientific and sustainable mining, exploration of critical minerals, mineral processing, and the development of value-added industries that can enhance the state’s industrial ecosystem and generate employment.

The DFC delegation appreciated Jharkhand’s mineral wealth, policy reforms, and the government’s commitment to creating a transparent, sustainable, and investor-friendly investment climate.

Both sides agreed to continue engagement to identify opportunities for future collaboration and investment in line with applicable policies and statutory provisions.

The meeting comes as global demand for critical minerals continues to rise amid the clean energy transition, with resource-rich regions increasingly attracting strategic international investment.
