Rupi Soren, mother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, was cremated at her ancestral village Nemra in Ramgarh district on Thursday. The last rites were performed in accordance with traditional rituals, with Chief Minister Hemant Soren lighting his mother’s funeral pyre.
A large number of villagers, supporters, political leaders and administrative officials gathered at Nemra to pay their last respects. The funeral procession drew a huge crowd as people accompanied the mortal remains to the cremation ground.
The Chief Minister became visibly emotional during the final rites and broke down in tears. Family members and supporters present at the cremation ground consoled him and stood by him during the difficult moment.
The atmosphere in Nemra remained sombre as people gathered to bid a final farewell to Rupi Soren. Residents and visitors from neighbouring areas paid their respects and offered prayers for the peace of her soul.
Rupi Soren was remembered for her simplicity, resilience and contribution to her family and community. People recalled her association with the family’s journey through the Jharkhand movement and her role as a source of strength for the Soren family.
Leaders from various political parties, social workers and members of the public expressed condolences to Hemant Soren and his family following her demise. The large turnout at Nemra reflected the deep emotional connection people shared with the Soren family.
