Sick and injured passengers, and both working and retired railway employees in Dhanbad railway division will get better medical facilities now with work for renovation of the railway hospital commencing this month at an estimated budget of Rs 2.60 crore.
Chief medical superintendent, Dhanbad divisional railway hospital, Dr A M Topno said after revamp of the infrastructure, healthcare facilities will have a modern corporate look along with improvement in facilities for patients.
“The renovation is scheduled to be completed within 12 months,” she said.
The renovation is expected to benefit around 24,500 serving railway employees of the Dhanbad Division, along with their family members. Retired railway employees and their dependents will also benefit from the improved facilities.
A high-tech modular operation theatre (OT) will come up as part of the renovation work and is aimed at strengthening the hospital’s treatment facilities for serious patients.
The proposed OT will be designed to minimise infection risks and incorporate modern medical technology.
