Ranchi: The Jharkhand Health Department has stepped up preparedness and surveillance in the state in view of the rising cases of seasonal influenza A (H1N1) and H3N2 reported in several states, including Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Following directions received from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Health Mission (NHM) Shashi Prakash, mission director, NHM Jharkhand, has directed all civil surgeons, medical colleges and district surveillance officers to remain alert and maintain continuous surveillance for suspected influenza cases.
Under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), daily monitoring of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases is being carried out across the state under supervision. Regular reporting on the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) has also been mandated.
The health department has clarified that no case of seasonal influenza has been confirmed in Jharkhand so far. However, authorities have stressed that precautionary measures, early detection and public awareness are essential to prevent the spread of the infection.
