Ranchi: In a significant step towards digitising forest management in Jharkhand, the Forest Department on Friday launched the Jharkhand Silviculture and Plantation Monitoring System (JSPMS) portal to improve the monitoring and review of afforestation and silviculture schemes across the state.
The portal was inaugurated by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force, Sanjeev Kumar. Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said the digital platform would enable transparent and systematic monitoring of plantation and silviculture schemes being implemented across territorial, wildlife and social forestry divisions in the state.
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Development) D Venkateshwarlu said the portal would allow officials to upload scheme-related data, year-wise photographs of plantation sites and GIS-based KML files.
It also features an analytical dashboard to review progress year-wise, scheme-wise and division-wise.
