Cabinet clears Rs 162.82 crore Ranchi road project, mining leases, infrastructure initiatives

The Jharkhand Cabinet on Monday approved a series of infrastructure, mining, governance, and welfare-related proposals, including a Rs 162.82 crore revised administrative sanction for the widening and strengthening of the 6.7 km Namkumโ€“Doranda Road in Ranchi into a four-lane corridor. At a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Cabinet also approved a third revised estimate of Rs 947.27 crore for the Amanat Barrage Scheme in Palamu district and extended the Jharkhand State Wide Area Network (JharNet 2.0) project till July 31, 2026, with an expenditure sanction of Rs 65.50 crore for 2026-27.

The Cabinet approved a coal mining lease covering 880 hectares in the Parbatpur Coal Block of Bokaro district and granted mining leases for the Sitanala Coal Block in Chandankiyari and the Jeetpur Coal Block in Godda district. It also approved a proposal to seek the Central government’s sanction for reserving 24.47 sq km of emerald-bearing mineral blocks in East Singhbhum district under the provisions of the MMDR Act. To facilitate compensatory afforestation, the Cabinet approved the permanent transfer of 5.84 acres of government land in Dhanbad district to the forest, environment and climate change department.

It also delegated powers to deputy commissioners to transfer deemed forest land free of cost for afforestation purposes and approved a hybrid execution model for departmental works undertaken by the forest department.
