Ranchi: The Health Department has directed officials to expedite the approval of funds under the Chief Minister Hospital Maintenance Scheme within a week. The Sadar hospitals across the state have also been directed to accelerate plans to introduce Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses at selected district hospitals.
Under the proposed DNB programme, five to six hospitals with adequate infrastructure, specialist doctors, operation theatres and other required facilities will initially be identified for a pilot programme. Neha Arora, special secretary, also emphasised the need to strengthen emergency care, assess staff requirements and improve the availability of trauma centres, intensive care units (ICUs) and neonatal care facilities across the state.
Officials have been asked to submit details of sanctioned and vacant posts by Friday, along with assessments of the availability of doctors and other staff at primary health centres, subdivisional hospitals and district hospitals.
The department will also assess the feasibility of converting 10–15 per cent of beds in district hospitals into ICU and coronary care unit (CCU) facilities.
