Guwahati: Four people were arrested after banned Yaba tablets worth Rs 2 crore were seized from their possession in two operations in Assam’s Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The police seized 20,000 Yaba tablets, also known as ‘crazy medicine’ in Thai, he said.

This narcotic item is illegal in the country because it contains methamphetamine, a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act, and caffeine.

“The night was long, but @assampolice has a longer reach. @sribhumipolice seized 20,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2 crore in two operations, with four accused apprehended,” Sarma said in a post on X on Monday night.

“Think twice before bringing drugs into Assam,” he added.

Necessary legal procedures have already been initiated, a police officer said.
