Barabanki; Two men were killed and another seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with a truck while overtaking a car on the Ayodhya road here, police said on Thursday.
Motorcycle Hits Oncoming Vehicle While Overtaking Car
The accident happened around 11 pm on Wednesday near Alapur in the City police station area.
The three friends were travelling from Lucknow to Barabanki when the motorcycle hit an oncoming vehicle while the rider tried to overtake a car, police said.
The deceased were identified as Shravan (38) and Amit (30), residents of Barjor Purwa under Ramsanehighat police station. They died on the spot, police said.
The impact was so severe that the vehicle dragged the motorcycle and the three riders for around 150 metres, according to police.
Sole Survivor Rushed to Lucknow Trauma Centre; Police Launch Investigation
Their friend Dharmraj (33) sustained serious injuries and was referred to the trauma centre in Lucknow.
Police outpost in-charge Alapur Pappu Yadav said an investigation into the accident is underway. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, he said.
