Jaipur: An 11-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack in Rajasthan’s Banswara district, forest officials said on Tuesday.
Deputy Conservator of Forests Shaitan Singh Deora said that the incident took place at Tibudi village near the Jagmer Jogimal forest area on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Rohit, son of Vimal Prasad Damor.
Deora said Rohit’s house is located close to the forest. On Monday evening, he had gone to bring back goats from the forest, as he did routinely, when a leopard hiding in the bushes suddenly attacked him.
“After hearing Rohit’s screams, his family members rushed to the spot. On seeing them approaching, the leopard left the boy and fled towards the forest,” Deora said.
The family members immediately took Rohit to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A forest department team reached the spot after receiving information through the control room and informed senior officials about the incident, he said.
A cage has also been placed near the site of the incident to capture the leopard, he said.
