A special investigation team (SIT) has on Sunday arrested the director of a company, Bynsis Technology Private Limited (BTPL), in the case related to the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s (JSSC) junior engineer (diploma) examination paper leak.
Police on Tuesday informed that the director of BTPL, Arun Kumar, was arrested on Sunday in Mumbai and was brought to Ranchi under transit remand. He was sent to jail under judicial custody on Monday.
Sources said that the examination was conducted on July 3, 2022, for 1,279 posts. The answer keys of the test, however, went viral before its first session, indicating that questions were leaked.
The JSSC cancelled the examination and registered a case with Namkum police station under various sections of the IPC, the Information Technology Act and the Bihar Conduct of Examination Act following a complaint by an aspirant, Mithlesh Mahto.
A SIT was formed to investigate the case. The investigating team found that the director of BTPL, which conducted the examination, was involved in the irregularities. The team also learnt that a syndicate responsible for the paper leak had made the candidates memorise the answers before the examination in Patna.
Notably, the SIT had arrested the candidates and primary accused persons, namely Ranjit Mandal, Deepak Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Deepak Srivastva and Krishna Kumar, senior manager of BTPL, earlier and sent them to jail.
The investigation in the case was underway, and more arrests are likely in the future, police said.
