The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) staged a protest in Ranchi on Wednesday against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
A large number of JMM leaders and workers from Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh and Lohardaga took part in the protest. The protesters marched from the Ranchi College grounds towards Lok Bhawan, raising slogans against the SIR exercise and the functioning of the Election Commission (EC).
The march was stopped by the police near Lok Bhawan with the help of barricades. Some protesters attempted to remove the barricades, but security personnel prevented them from moving ahead. The protesters remained at the spot for some time and raised slogans against the EC.
