Experts and lawmakers called for stronger cyber laws, digital awareness, and the inclusion of cyber security and AI in the education system during a one-day workshop held at the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Friday.

The workshop on ‘Cyber Security, Digital Security and AI: Current Scenario and Challenges’ was organised by Bal Kalyan Sangh in collaboration with The Asia Foundation, New Delhi. The programme aimed to create awareness among legislators and citizens about evolving cyber threats, AI-driven fraud, and digital safety.

AI Misuse a Serious Challenge: Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato Emphasises Stringent Laws

 

Rabindra Nath Mahato, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker, emphasised that AI has transformed sectors including healthcare, education, administration, and industry, but its misuse has emerged as a serious challenge.

Mahato said, “Cyber fraud and digital scams are increasing rapidly,” and stressed the need for more effective and stringent laws to deter cyber criminals.

 

Deepfakes and Phishing: Experts Push for School-Level Cyber Security Education

 

The experts advocated for introducing cyber security and AI education at the school level and proposed regular digital security training for legislators during Assembly sessions.

Captain Joshi, Technical Head of the Cyber Peace Foundation, highlighted emerging cyber threats such as AI-enabled fraud, deepfakes, phishing, fake websites, social engineering, and OTP scams.

He shared practical measures to enhance online safety, including enabling two-factor authentication, regularly reviewing app permissions, and avoiding suspicious links.
