Shimla: Rain-related incidents claimed 152 lives in Himachal Pradesh from the onset of the monsoon on June 30 till September 29, with the state suffering losses estimated at Rs 3,220 crore, officials said on Wednesday.
The Himalayan state received 652.6 mm of rainfall against the normal 733.4 mm during the monsoon season from June 1 to September 29, a deficit of 11 per cent, the officials said.
As many as 19 people died in landslides and flash floods, while no deaths were reported in cloudburst incidents.
A total of 62 people died after falling from heights, 17 drowned, 16 died of snake bites, 10 were killed in electrocution incidents and 28 died due to other reasons, the officials said.
Light rain lashed a few parts of the state since Tuesday evening, with Rampur receiving 16.8 mm and Khadrala 7.1 mm, they said.
As of Wednesday morning, 46 roads were closed to vehicular traffic and 127 power transformers were disrupted, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
Mandi had the highest number of blocked roads at 28, followed by six in Kangra, five in Kullu, two each in Lahaul and Spiti, Sirmaur and Una, and one in Shimla district.
