CM sets three-year target to bring 5G to all panchayats

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday directed the Information Technology and E-Governance Department to prepare a roadmap to connect all panchayats in Jharkhand with 5G services within the next three years, while asking officials to identify internet shadow areas and ensure that no village remains deprived of digital connectivity.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of the department, the Chief Minister said the vision of a “Digital Jharkhand” could be realised only when technology reaches the state’s remotest regions.

Cyber Security, Data Integration in Focus

Soren directed officials to establish a robust cyber security framework with regular security audits and strengthen the state data centre to ensure safe and reliable storage of government data.

He also instructed the department to integrate data from all government departments into a centralised system and expedite the development of the proposed Chief Minister Data Intelligence Platform for better governance and decision-making.

Police, Digital Governance Projects Reviewed

The Chief Minister asked officials to expedite CCTV installation in police stations and speed up LiDAR- and satellite-based projects.

He also directed the appointment of IT officers in every department and district to improve transparency and efficiency and instructed that more government services be brought online in a phased manner.

Soren also reviewed the proposed Digital Jharkhand Vision 2029, including the state’s proposed IT Park, and called for promoting startups, innovation, and skill development to build a robust IT ecosystem.

Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh, IT Secretary Pooja Singhal, JAP-IT CEO Chandan Kumar, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
