Police have intensified their operations to prevent crimes and other violations including drunk driving, road encroachment and illegal parking in the city even as actions were taken against around 75 persons in the past 24 hours. Acting on the direction of Rakesh Ranjan, SSP, Ranchi, several teams led by Paras Rana, city SP, and Rakesh Singh, traffic SP on Sunday night carried out a large scale vehicle checking drive in Ranchi city to trace anti-social elements and detect drunk driving and other traffic violations.
Singh informed, โAs many as 15 persons were found driving under the influence of alcohol and legal actions were taken against them. Around 35 persons also faced action for infringement of rules including riding without helmet, rash driving and underage driving. Nothing suspicious was found during the anti-crime checking. Sunday was chosen for the intensive drive, as there was a perception that police remain lax on this day.โ
On Monday, the Ranchi SSP took to the street along with the traffic SP to assess the traffic system on the main road of the city. During the inspection police officials requested the shopkeepers to ensure they do not encroach the roads with their products. Police also took action against 25 vehicle owners for illegal parking and also for plying on the footpaths. The SP also issued directions to the traffic police deployed at their posts on the road.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip off Ranchi police arrested three accused persons with 16.43 grams of brown sugar in an operation conducted at Vidyanagar colony under the Sukhdevnagar police station limits on Sunday afternoon. Police on Monday informed that the arrested persons were Aniket Agrawal, Kumud Chaubey and Ankush Chaubey adding that further investigation was underway in the case. Police have forwarded the accused persons to jail under judicial custody.
