Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has issued the first part of a comprehensive frequently asked questions (FAQs) document related to the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The FAQs have been circulated to all district election officers (DEO) across the state and are also available on the official website of the chief electoral officer, Jharkhand.
The document contains 30 FAQs addressing common questions and concerns raised through various channels regarding the ongoing electoral roll revision process. According to the CEO, the initiative aims to provide clear and detailed information to voters and election officials about SIR. The FAQs explain the roles and responsibilities of booth level officers (BLOs), booth level agents (BLAs), mapped voters, and unmapped voters during the revision process. It also highlights the importance of conducting a SIR of electoral rolls and outlines the documents that voters may need to submit for verification.
In addition, the document provides detailed guidance on enumeration forms, the draft publication of electoral rolls, the process for filing claims and objections, and the final publication of the revised voter list. Speaking on the initiative, Mr Ravi Kumar emphasised that the election department is working with the objective of ensuring that โnot a single eligible Indian citizen is left out of the electoral roll.โ He further clarified that the SIR is meant exclusively for eligible Indian citizens and urged non-Indian nationals not to participate in the process.
